Apple OS upgrade: Compatibility issue with campus Wi-Fi
Apple's Private Wi-Fi Address feature, introduced in macOS Sequoia and updated for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, can cause connectivity issues when using campus Wi-Fi networks. The same is true if you update your iWatch or VisionPro.
At this time, OIT's recommendation is to wait to upgrade to the latest Apple OS release. If you do choose to update, OIT strongly recommends that you set Private Wi-Fi Address to "off" for the UCB Wireless, UCB Guest and eduroam networks.

Features
CU Boulder's wireless internet provides easy access to the network from any Wi-Fi enabled personal device throughout campus. CU Boulder has three Wi-Fi options for use on campus: UCB Wireless, UCB Guest and eduroam.
Between the three networks, wireless internet is available in approximately 90% of all indoor building space on campus—and even on the Buff Bus.
Which network should I use?
Network | Who may use it | Resource access | Authentication |
---|---|---|---|
eduroam | Faculty, staff, students and visitors from institutions participating in eduroam | All protocols are open to campus resources and internet | Once yearly |
UCB Wireless | All CU Boulder affiliates with an active IdentiKey | Most protocols and internet. File sharing-restricted protocols (i.e., CIFS, NetBIOS) will be blocked in the near future | Once yearly |
UCB Guest Wireless | Any guest visiting the CU Boulder campus | Limited protocols (web, email, SSH) | Every 24 hours |
