Canvas - Update WeVideo Grades in Canvas Gradebook

This tutorial shows instructors how to push student's WeVideo interactive video grades to the Grades Tool in their Canvas Course. To learn more, visit the Integrating WeVideo Within Canvas tutorial.

Step 1

Open your Canvas course in a Chrome browser. Within Assignments, click on the WeVideo Assignment you created. 

In this example, the WeVideo Assignment is under the Quizzes heading and is named "Copy of Frequency Set."

Step 2

Select Monitor to open the WeVideo Monitor.

When clicked, "Copy of Frequency Set" opens a large "Mange Link" message that says it is assigned to "F21 Clicker Playground." Two buttons appear: Preview" and "Monitor." The "Monitor" button is circled.

Step 3

On the monitor page, you may review students' progress and grade any short answer questions. You can also reset their attempt.

This Interactive Video Analytics page provides data for four learners. Two have completed the assignment; two haven't started.

Step 4

While grades sync automatically, you may wish to sync the grades from the WeVideo Monitor. Keep in mind that a new submission time will be recorded in Canvas if you do this and students may be penalized if you have a late grade policy.

The "Sync All Grades" button appears in the upper left corner of the Interactive Video Analytics page.

Step 5

After the assignment is due, use the Default Grade option in the Canvas gradebook to award a zero for assignments that were not completed. Find the assignment in the Canvas gradebook and select Default Grade from the drop-down menu. (As an external tool, WeVideo grades will not automatically default to zero after the due date.)

Click the three-dot options icon to the right of the assignment's name to open a drop-down menu, then select "Set Default Grade."

Step 6

Set the default grade to zero and click Set Default Grade.

In the default grade window, the user has typed a 0 in the grade value field. The checkbox to overwrite already-entered grades is not checked. The "Set Default Grade" button is circled.
