Research, Server, and Data Center Resources

As a top research institution, CU Boulder strives to provide its researchers with the resources necessary to fulfill their technological needs and allow them to focus on their work. As such, the university is home to several groups who focus their attention on meeting those needs.

  • Research Computing provides services for researchers that include large-scale computing resources, storage of research data, high-speed data transfer capabilities, and support  for data sharing. Additionally, the RC group provides consulting in computational science and data management, and will support grant proposals by partnering or providing letters of support.
  • Shared Infrastructure Services (SIS) supplies virtual hosting solutions and online environment management for your research needs, in order to allow you to concentrate on your work. Additionally, the SIS team provides around the clock maintenance and care of your infrastructure to remove any concern about the safety and functionality of your servers.
  • The SPSC Data Center, located on CU Boulder's east campus, offers a premier physical and technical environment for academic, research and administrative computing equipment. As a foundational piece of CU Boulder's cyberinfrastructure, the data center works with SIS and Research Computing to promote sharing of resources, consolidation through virtualization and expansion of local "cloud" services.
