Overview

CU-Boulder's Exchange service is designed to help faculty and staff collaborate more efficiently and effectively through a suite of services including e-mail, campus-wide scheduling via the calendaring function, contact and directory data, task management and more.  Exchange provides ubiquitous access to these features through desktop programs, web browsers, and mobile devices such as SmartPhones.

Features

  • 1 GB mailboxes, 50MB maximum message size.
  • Web access via Outlook Web Access.
  • Fully supports Outlook 2007, Outlook 2010, Entourage 2008 EWS, and Outlook 2011 (for Mac) e-mail and calendaring programs.  Apple Mail 4.x, 5.x and Apple iCal 4.x, 5.x for Mac OS X 10.6 and 10.7 are also compatible with OIT's Exchange service.  Thunderbird is compatible with e-mail only.
  • Mobile device access via ActiveSync or IMAP connections.
  • Global address list including name, department and phone information for all faculty, staff and students.
  • Integrated address book and shared calendar through Microsoft Outlook and Entourage.
  • Accommodates multiple personal calendars, multiple group calendars, as well as resource calendars for scheduling of rooms, equipment, and other non-people objects.
  • Built-in virus scanner.

Cost

Exchange 2007 is provided as a common-good service to all faculty, staff and student employees - which means there is no direct cost to the individual or department.

Who can get it

The CU-Boulder Exchange service is available to all CU-Boulder faculty and staff, and by request to those student employees who need to conduct official university business through e-mail. Retirees are also eligible for Exchange accounts.

Related Projects

Exchange 2007 Implementation Project:  The migration of faculty and staff from CULink to Exchange started in March 2011 and is now nearing completion. The project team plans to schedule the remainder of migrations during the spring 2012 semester.
