This document shows install and configure PGP (now Symantec) on Windows.
Open the downloaded file.
Click on the button next to I accept the license agreement, and click on the Next button.
Click on the Next button.
You may encounter a User Account Control box asking you to if it is okay to install the application. Click on the Yes button.
The installer will begin to copy files.
During the setup process you will be prompted to restart your computer. Click on the Yes button to do so.
Upon restart, you will be prompted with a Encrypted Desktop Enrollment box. Enter your CULoginName and IdentiKey password. Then click on the OK button.
Once your account has been enrolled with the PGP Universal Server, you will continue to customize the setup on your computer. Select your User Type (generally I am a new user), then click the Next button.
The Setup Assistant will skip over Key Generation and demonstrate how to access PGP Desktop in the system tray. Click on the Finish button.
Locate the lock icon in your system tray (typically the lower-right corner of the screen).
Right-click on the lock icon and select, Open Symantec Encryption Desktop, as shown below.
In the window that opens, select Encrypt Whole Disk or Partition.
Next, it's time to configure User Access. Click on the New Passphrase User... button.
In the window that opens, select Use Windows Password, then click on the Next button. This is convenient and secure option. When you change your logon password, your Symantec Encryption Desktop password will be automatically updated to reflect that change.
In the next screen, select Proceed with passphrase authentication only, then click on the Next button.
On the Windows Account Logon screen, enter the username and password that you use to logon to your computer. AD customers, see step 17, others move onto step 18.
If you logon to your computer with your Active Directory (AD) password, be sure to enter ad into the Domain: text field.
If your department uses a different domain, enter it into the Domain: text field.
When finished, click Next.
You should be greeted with a New User Created message. Click on the Finish button.
You will see your username listed in the User Access section.
