Migrate Email Data - Import from Office 365 Exchange to Gmail

Overview

This tutorial shows the process of importing email from Office 365 Exchange to Gmail.

Step 1

Log into the Gmail web client with your CULoginName@colorado.edu and IdentiKey password.

Step 2

Click the gear icon in the upper right corner, select Settings.

Step 3

Click the Accounts and Import link. Select Import mail and contacts

Step 4

Enter CULoginName@colorado.edu, click continue.

Step 5

Enter your IdentiKey password then enter your POP username, CULoginName@colorado.edu

*Note: Your POP username may automatically populate.

Step 6

In the POP server field, enter outlook.office365.com

Step 7

The Port should be set to 995. If needed, click edit to choose the correct port, then select continue

Step 8

Select your import options.

  • Check Import mail
  • Check Leave a copy of retrieved message on the server
  • Optional – Check Add label to all imported mail

Then select Start import.

Step 9

You will see the following message:

Your messages are being imported. It may take several hours (sometimes up to 2 days) before you start to see imported messages. You can close this window and keep using University of Colorado Boulder Mail or even log out and close your browser – we'll continue importing your mail and/or contacts in the background. To check the status of your import, look under Settings > Accounts and Import

Step 10

In the Account and Import section the import status will be displayed under Check mail from other accounts:

  • The last checked status is displayed
  • You can also view history or check mail now
  • To make changes you can click edit info on the right
  • Once all your mail has been imported and you no longer need the import click delete on the right
