After opening the Alertus installer, Windows SmartScreen may bring up this warning. This is a standard warning that many software programs will generate, however, Alertus software poses no threat to your computer. Click More info to doublecheck University of Colorado as the publisher.

Step

After confirming the publisher field lists University of Colorado, click Run anyway to continue installing Alertus.

Please note: We are working with the vendor on the best way to avoid this error appearing when installing software created and provided by CU Boulder.

Step

If Alertus is already installed, you may see a prompt asking to close the current version of the software.

Choose Automatically close applications and attempt to restart them after setup is complete. Click OK.

Step

Alertus should install without additional prompts. A computer restart isn’t required after installation, but is recommended.
