The following instructions demonstrate the process of using the accessible html template for your own content items in a Desire2Learn course.

Step 1

Log into Desire2Learn and open your desired course.

*Note: You need to first add the accessible html template to your course in order to use it.

Step 2

Click on Content, located in the Navbar.

Step 3

Select the Table of Contents to view all course content.

Step 4

In the module area you would like the template, select the Create a File, from the New drop-down menu.

Step 5

Enter a title for your content item in the corresponding field.

Step 6

From the Select a Document Template drop-down menu, select Accessible_html_template.

Step 7

The template will open in your new content file.

From here, customize the content as you see fit. You may delete the text and re-enter your own title, subtitle, etc. for the document.

Step 8

The Format drop-down menu in the toolbar (it may display as Paragraph or Heading #) to change the heading levels. Be sure to use levels in appropriate descending order without skipping any when creating content.

Step 9

You can copy and paste content from other text editors (plain text is best). However, ensure content is formatted correctly with proper heading levels.

Step 10

When finished click Publish or Save as Draft to save the item.
