The following tutorial will walk you through the process of releasing all student grades for your course, using the “automatically release final grade” option. This is the easiest way to ensure students can see their course grades. For information about manually selecting and releasing student grades, please see the D2L - Manually Release Final Grades tutorial.
From the Assessments drop-down menu, select Grades and navigate to the Enter Grades tab.
Click on Settings in the upper right-hand corner of your screen, just below the navbar.
Click on the Calculation Options tab of the settings screen. Before continuing to step 4, we suggest that you verify the calculation options for your gradebook are set up correctly. Please note we recommend you select the Automatically keep final grades updated check box on the calculation options page, unless you have a very large course and are experiencing slowness when D2L updates final grades.
Under Final Grade Released, select the Automatically release final grade checkbox. Checking this box will automatically release either the Calculated Final Grade or Adjusted Final Grade for all students the next time these are calculated, depending on which you currently have selected.
*Note: Calculated Final Grades will not be released immediately upon enabling Automatically release final grade, even if you have “automatically keep final grades updated” enabled. You will need to navigate to the Enter Grades page and select Save in order to push this data through to your students.
Similarly, Adjusted Final Grades will only be automatically released in the way described above if these have already been manually entered in the gradebook. For more information, please see D2L - Entering Adjusted Final Grades.
*Note: If you enabled automatically release final grade during the gradebook setup wizard at the beginning of the semester and chose to release Calculated Final Grade, your final grades will already have been released to students. No further action will be necessary unless you choose to release Adjusted Final Grades at the end of the term.
