ESET Endpoint Antivirus incompatible with macOS Catalina

OIT highly recommends all mac users wait to upgrade to macOS 10.15 Catalina. Older versions of ESET are not compatible and will not receive updates to allow the applications to launch on Catalina. Before upgrading to Catalina, installing ESET or later is required for compatibility. Learn more about the macOS 10.15 Catalina release.

ESET has replaced System Center Endpoint Protection for Mac

Microsoft announced in November 2018 that it was discontinuing support for System Center Endpoint protection for Mac on December 31, 2018. As a result, OIT is transitioning to ESET Endpoint Antivirus as the recommended antivirus software for university-owned Mac computers.


ESET Endpoint Antivirus provides antivirus and antispyware protection for CU Boulder for university-owned Mac systems running a supported version of macOS through the Microsoft software campus EES agreement.

Faculty, Staff, and student staff using university-owned computers.

How to get it

Uninstall other Antivirus software

​​Before downloading and installing ESET Endpoint Antivirus for Mac, you must first uninstall other antivirus software you may have on your Mac. Here are instructions for uninstalling former university-recommended antivirus software:

Install ESET Endpoint Antivirus for Mac

  1. Log in to the Microsoft software campus EES download site
  2. Download ESET Endpoint Antivirus for Mac
  3. Ensure you do not have other Antivirus software still installed
  4. Install ESET Endpoint Antivirus
