Adobe Acrobat Professional is used to create, manipulate, print and manage files in Portable Document Format (PDF).
Perpetual licenses for Adobe Acrobat can be purchased for $75-$80 through the CU Marketplace (vendors Connection or CDW-G) or campus reseller Insight (800-269-2523). These licenses do not expire, and are offered at Adobe's level-3 "CLP" license program rates through these vendors. OIT recommends Adobe Acrobat Pro 2017 (perpetual) and not the DC version. The perpetual version is a one-time purchase and does not expire; the DC version is a subscription version and you will have to pay a subscription cost each year.
For those who are subscribing to the Adobe Creative Cloud suite, there is no need to purchase Acrobat separately; it is included in the suite. However, if the Creative Cloud subscription expires without being renewed, the license for Acrobat that comes with it also expires.
As with other Adobe licenses, a single license for a user allows the named user to activate Acrobat on up to two computers; Mac, Windows, or mixed. Upon purchase, Adobe sends email instructions about how to get the software and serial number from the Adobe Licensing Website (LWS).
Adobe products Captivate and Lightroom are also available for perpetual CLP licensing from the vendors named above.
For other Adobe products, such as Photoshop, InDesign and others, users must subscribe to a Creative Cloud license, which can be done through the Site Licenses office.
