A few different options exist when a user would like to setup WebDav for Windows. However, if a user is running Vista 64-bit, or a later version of Windows, a third party program will be needed. Please read carefully through the information below before moving forward with setting up WebDav.
Windows Vista 32-bit, has the ability to create a web folder to correspond with your D2L course without additional software. A web folder software update may be required at: www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=15123. To learn about the process of creating a web folder for your D2L course please visit the Setting Up WebDav via Web Folders tutorial.
A third party program is necessary for Windows users with Vista 64-bit and Windows 7, and OIT reccomends Cyberduck. Cyberduck is an open source FTP and SFTP, WebDAV, Cloud Files, Google Docs, and Amazon S3 client for Windows and Mac OS X (Goliath is recommended for Mac). Cyberduck requires at least Windows XP and Mac OS X 10.5. Cyberduck is not officially recommended by Desire2Learn, but works very well as a tool to manage your course files. More information about Cyberduck as well as a link to the download can be found at http://cyberduck.ch/. To learn about the process of setting up WEbDav through Cyberduck please visit the Setting Up WebDav with Cyberduck tutorial.
