Student Printing and Scanning - Remote Printing

Last Updated: 04/07/2017

Remote printing allows you to print documents from your personal computer or laptop to OIT printers on campus using downloaded printer drivers. Printing from your room, office, or wireless location is easy -- just print from your computer and your document will be secured electronically for 24 hours until you release it for printing from any SPS printer of the appropriate type.

Remote Driver Packages

Printer drivers are combined into one package (for each operating system) so that they can now be used for all printers around campus.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Before installing any printer installers, be sure that old printers and Pharos Popup software (installed before the Spring 2014 semster) have been uninstalled. Detailed uninstallation and installation instructions for printer drivers are located on the following pages:

How to Download, Install and Use

  1. Download the printer installer from the table above for the printer type you want.
  2. Install the printer driver
    • Locate the package you just downloaded and double-click on it. You will be guided through the installation process.
  3. Print
    • When you go to print your document, choose the appropriate printer for the job, i.e., color, larger paper capabilities (see printer info chart for each model’s capabilities), and click Print.
    • Your document will be secured electronically for 24 hours until you release it.
    • When you're ready, go to a print release station with your Buff OneCard or Campus Cash Card (whichever one you used when sending the print job).

Note: Be sure to go to a print release station that has a printer of the same type you chose when printing.
    • Swipe your card at the print release station to pay for - and release - your print job.
