Start Your Semester Off Right. Review the following list to help get your D2L course set up for a great start to the semester.

If you haven’t received confirmation that you course has been created 2 business days after you make the request, contact the IT Service Center at: help@colorado.edu or (303)735-HELP

Attend a D2L Workshop
Confirm your course name

Confirm your course start and end date

Students are granted access to courses in D2L 2 days prior to the beginning of the term and no longer have access 3 weeks after the last day of finals

Build your course by importing new content or by copying course components from courses you previously taught in D2L. When uploading files, be sure to remove any special characters (e.g. @, $, %, \, *) from the file names.

Add other instructors or TAs to your course by searching for them and adding them via the Classlist. If you need to add other participants, a number of roles and permissions can be assigned to them.

Students are enrolled in D2L based on enrollment information from the campus student information system

Verify that your sections are set up correctly
Update all course dates (due dates, selective release dates, calendar dates, etc.)
Check to see if the materials you want to be hidden from students (e.g., past exams, quiz answers) are set to draft
Set up your entire grade book before the term begins 
Use the Grade Book Guide as a reference
Add or review Dropbox Assignments
Add or review Quizzes
Add or review Discussion Forums and Topics
Add a new welcome announcement/video/audio. Don't forget to add captions or a transcript to your videos.
Update your syllabus and schedule with all current semester information
Review your navigation bar, homepage, and widgets and customize them if needed
Impersonate the demo student to review your course set up and see how students would see and use the course
