Microsoft software campus EES agreement - Burn an ISO File to a Disc

The information on this page is provided to help you burn a CD or DVD from an ISO image file downloaded from the Microsoft Campus Agreement website. You must have software that supports creating a CD or DVD from an image file. If you try and simply copy the .ISO file onto a CD or DVD, it will not work.

Tips for all programs

  • Window 8 has the ability to natively mount ISO files, so no extra software is required.
  • You cannot use Windows Vista or Windows 7 alone to burn an ISO image. OIT recommends that you use ISO Recorder Power Toy (see below).
  • Always use a new blank disc.
  • Close all other programs while burning to prevent errors.
  • If you are unable to burn an ISO image file using these instructions, please consult the help files provided with your specific burning software.
  • If you do not have the ability to burn a disc, contact the IT Service Center for assistance.
  • After the disc has been burned, double-click on the disc and open the installer.

Using ISO Recorder Power Toy for Windows (Freeware)

  1. Download Alex Feinman's ISO Recorder Power Toy. Make sure to download the correct version of the software for your operating system.
  2. After installation, restart your computer.
  3. Right click the .iso file and select Open with >> ISO Recorder.
  4. The ISO record window should come up.
  5. Select the drive in which the blank CD or DVD is located in, then select Next.
  6. The CD or DVD should begin to record.
  7. After the disc has been burned, open My Computer and double-click on the disc. From there, start the installation.
