Personal Capture - FAQ

What is Personal Capture, and who can use it?

Personal Capture utilizes My Mediasite, an all-in-one content creation and delivery platform that helps you create videos, screencasts and slideshows in one simple-to-use tool. All faculty, instructors, staff and student employees are able to use Personal Capture.

What are the system requirements for Personal Capture?

Visit Mediasite Capture Apps System Requirements for detailed system requirements information.

How long will content be available on the My Mediasite portal?

Content will remain online for an entire academic year following the year it was created. At the end of each Spring semester, content from the previous year will be removed.

OIT recommends users take personal responsibility for routine archiving of content. Once content has been removed it can not be recovered. File storage options supported by OIT include UCB Files, Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.

Can I add a Personal Capture recording to a Canvas course?

Yes, you can link directly to your lecture videos on your Canvas course page in less than a minute!

Visit the Add a Custom Link to Navigation Bar tutorial or watch the Add a Catalog to Canvas course video tutorial for a step-by-step example of the process.

Can I use Personal Capture on Linux?

No. At this time the Media Desktop Recorder and Mediasite Mosaic do not support Linux.
