Interactive Video Tool Evaluation

Last Updated: 08/10/2017

Overview

An interactive video tool allows instructors to build quiz questions and provide other scaffolding directly on top of video content. Most interactive video tools can be used with YouTube or you can upload your own video content. As students are watching, the video will pause and a quiz question will appear. Often, you can require that students successfully answer the question before moving forward.

Interactive video lessons support hybrid and online learning by allowing instructors to highlight and reinforce relevant content to students and gauge students’ comprehension of that content for formative assessment. Many interactive video tools have features that allow more nuanced control of the viewer’s experience to support a more focused and engaged audience. Students appreciate the integration of the quiz within the video for a streamlined experience.

Interactive Video Tool Evaluation

OIT’s Academic Technology Design Team reviewed a number of Interactive Video tools and is currently starting an expanded PlayPosit Pilot as we determine which tool will best serve the needs of our campus. Contact the ATDT if you’d like to participate in the spring 2017 pilot.
